Possible engine mount gone!
« on: October 10, 2014, 11:48:28 pm »
Hi

I had my sitting running for a bit and fan kicked in. It was rattling like mad, so had a look and i can see a pipe is touching the back of the fan which i couldn't get my hand right down.

Anyway i started driving it to get fan away cool it down and get home and deal with it tomorrow. Car was running rough as in steering wheel judering and clunking when i took my foot off the clutch. About a week ago i was driving it and i felt it pulling to the right a little but hadn't drove since.

I aint a mechanic so not that clued up but reason i thought it was an engine mount was could engine have moved slightly and thats why the fan is hitting the pipe?

Also i was reading you need to remove an engine mount to do cambelt etc. Which i did have done a few month ago.

Any input would be great.

Cheers

Dog bone bolt may have snapped causing the engine to move forward.
Without traction power is nothing!

Yeah it was the bolt joining to gearbox. Luckily my mate had a bolt that fitted till i get a new one this week. It doesnt half change the car though when that goes. Luckily nothing elsw is damaged.
