MOT done today - 1 month early so now has 13 months and no advisories!

Looking good Stu.

It's a great spec you have there, I was holding out for something with a few more options, but in the end condition and history ruled out.

I asked you about your car a few weeks back on 'Early Bay'. I think you're totally right regarding the mileage, the condition is far more important. At least half of the 'low mileage' ones that were advertised had mileage discrepancies with the MOT database.

Cheers Phil - yep I was a bit naughty posting some pics of the mighty GTI on EarlyBay!
Gave the car a nice bath today as it has a nice new stablemate on the driveway.
We now have a full compliment of VW's on the drive!

White MK5 GTI
White 1970 EarlyBay
And a brand new White Touareg R-Line

After a day of working on the car and replacing the following items all is good again!  :drinking:

Low Pressure Fuel Sensor
CamShaft Sensor
Crankshaft Sensor

Full oil and filter change with Mobil 1

The first two sensors were easy to change - took me literally 5 mins to sort them however the crank sensor was buried deep in the engine and took ages to get to!
Dont want to have to do that again!

Oil change went well and the filter replacement was due - im good now for a few more thousand miles

Some pics of my work today!

Moved the bus out of the garage so I could work on a hard surface!

Didnt have to go up high but still on two axle stands and had the wheels chocked and the jack inplace!

Camshaft sensor swapped out

Oil change gear

Fuel pressure sensors

Gave the area a clean before I refitted it!

Old and new crank sensor

Just need my buddy to pop round now and clear any fault codes and im ready to rock!  :happy2:

Great thread! I'm looking at a high mileage (150k) GTI DSG tomorrow hopefully. Got nothing on your 2008 though! Have you had any major issues apart from anything you've mentioned on here?

Great thread! I'm looking at a high mileage (150k) GTI DSG tomorrow hopefully. Car looks in really good condition and only 2 owners from new. Got nothing on your 2008 though, such a nice car with those seats! Have you had any major issues apart from anything you've mentioned on here?

Nope no issues - they really are well made vehicles
Just make sure it has been serviced regularly and not been abused

Quick update - got the mighty GTI mot'd the other week!
Straight through with no advisories so lives to play for another year!
Now knocking on the door of 180k and still tight as a drum

Would post some pics however photobucket is holding my pics to ransom and im refusing to pay $399 for the convenience of image hosting!
Build threads are in tatters all over the web!
