Windscreen streaks
« on: November 05, 2014, 12:55:43 pm »
what product can I use to stop my windscreen smearing and going streaky inside?

As soon as I hit any sun I can't see sh*t!

Tried many products and tried different cloths but what would you lot suggest?

It is tricky to get right - I've got loads of window stuff.

Auto glym glass polish is good for 6 quid

I've heard that finishing off with newspaper gives a glaze free finish.

Take off your wipers and give them a proper wash and wipe any road grime off. if your cleaning your windscreen and not your dirty wipers, that might be the issue. have you got glass cleaner? AutoGlym Fast Glass is good. Failing that, get hold of some IPA cleaner and wipe over the windscreen after a wash. Maplins sell it diluted. If youve not had the car long, the previous owner may have used too much polish/product. Rain-X is pretty good but needs regular top up treatments

Hope that helps

I use Gtechniq G4 glass polish and then apply G1 and G2, it lasts for a few years after one application.
It's expensive and it comes in a tiny little bottle but you will last for a long time as you only put it on every few years.

Buy some Bar Keepers Friend (Powder, not the spray you can also get) Put a small amount on a damp microfibre and get to work on the windscreen. Just be careful, and be aware it'll take a decent amount of water to clear it off.
