I've been running a quantum map from a local very trust worthy garage for nearly a year now with no problems at all. Boosts very smoothly throughout the Rev range and made a massive difference to how the car drove. I'm planning on going stage 2 this year, but will be going to rtech for that

Any chance you can do a VAG COM log with a WOT pull in 3rd or 4th?

I had gone back to the 'tuner' and they fiddled with the map (or they emailed it to someone to do it). Think they reduced the boost. seemed to work at first but the over boost issue still came back. In the end I got a refund and had the map taken off. I ended up driving 150 miles to R-tech for a stage 1 and no such problems now. made 250bhp and 310 torques with no mods.  After 2 months of the Rtec I still can't wait to wake up in the morning to drive to work.

I also notice a big difference in the way the Rtech map delivers it's power - it's just more controllable and almost feels like the car left the factory like this (can still be manic when you want). No surges in torque or anything like that, just smooth power up to the red line.

I'm glad in the end you got it sorted. There's a few tuners around here. Seems to be more and more that can map anything. I stuck to my knowledge and paid for the Revo. Previous experience with my old car, didn't want anything else for the 2nd time round on my Golf.

Go and get your wastegate tension checked!  Adjustments go out with age and if that happens it won't allow a decent remap to do its work properly.  Too much blame on remaps and not enough on wear and tear!  Wastegate tension is adjustable for a reason....  It needs calibration just like other components subject to wear, tear and fatigue.

That is what the ecu n75 pid contol map is for....  if someone is saying actuator is playing up causing the boost delivery to be sh*t and not making the map work is 1 flashing a generic map 2 a bad one at that and 3 just winding up the boost request maps expecting the stock n75 maps to do the job..     The only time an actuator tweak is needed is when the spring tension wont allow the peak power, not to fix limp mode or running issues.    ie a stage2+ car at 270hp and n75 is pegged at 100% across the top end, but that tuner knows the potential of the setup should be closer to 280-285hp, so 5-6mm of pre load can be added and the low down mid range n75 maps changed to keep the peak boost in check and n95 back to 90-94%
