ABT Launch Listers Stratford
« on: November 14, 2009, 03:42:47 pm »
Not really a show or a meet (well it was a mini meet for the twins!  ) but thought I'd post a few pics up anyroad!

Just realised I didn't get any pics of the R8 DTM racer or one of the three Viper Green ABT Rocco's!  :sad1:

Anyhow here goes:

Not sure if I liked this one!  :rolleye:

I think we both agreed we were not the biggest fans of these kits visually but felt the front bumper with the integrated LED's and the original GTI grille would look cool!  :happy2:

I do kinda like the style on the mk6 but just feel the red looks too orange and should have been a lot darker.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

....

Re the Abt Mk6 GTI, those wheels look horribly fussy and contrived. I too like the front arrangement of vents and DRL's, I don't mind the quad zorst configuration but oh so fussy and spoilt by the red bits on the zorst trim!

As a whole, the Mk6 design doesn't hang together well at all and most of this Abt treatment only makes it worse. IMO of course.

Those same wheels, even just all in silver, look awful on the Audi too. Over fussy

To be fair to the ABT guys these kits do look better in the flesh, the quad exhaust dont look to bad either! For me the best one was the red mk6 GTD, the red really carried off the kit best! :happy2:

It's not just my crappy camera doing that either Stealth, the sill colour was very different to the Red on the wheels!

That's scandalous! As far as I'm concerned, it should all be red to match the calipers. Orange is no good!

I like this part the best - Everything is functional. In fact I like the Abt front very much indeed! : -

....From left to right:

- Separate vent to brakes.
- Foglight.
- Dedicated LED DRLs.
- Vent to engine bay? The only part with questionable function but useful for aftermarket extras.
- Large central grill serving the usual radiator and intercooler components.
- Central air splitter.

The benefit of Abt's frontal offering as a whole is how well it appears to cater for aftermarket mods.

Fair enough if you don't like the style of what you see but to think it's not functional surprises me  :surprised:
