Painting brake calipers
« on: November 17, 2014, 03:32:30 pm »
Hi all,

I really like the look of red calipers, however I cannot afford the genuine ones by a long shot, has anyone painted theirs before? Also how do you go about it? Never done it before!

Thanks

Wheel off, rub down with white spirit, brush on red hammerite, let dry, apply again, let dry, wheels on, job jobbed.

I did this a few years ago and used a wire brush and red caliper paint from Halfords and after a couple coats they came up so well everyone asked me where I brought them!  :happy2:

Wheel off
Wire Brush the caliper get rid of rust and brake dust and grime
Brake Cleaner Spray - this will dry in seconds
Couple of Coats of Hammerite (i use x2 different size brushes - Small one for fiddly bits)

Stand back and enjoy your efforts, onto the next 3 calipers
