I just fitted some eicher discs and pagid pads on the front. Cost me about 80 quid for the lot, although I believe that grooved / dimpled mtec's are also popular, but a bit more money

You could get a big brake kit (s3 kit in the FS area for £300-350)  :drinking:

You won't believe how much better they are until you've tried them

Here's a kit that has everything at a great price: www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,91418.0.html  :innocent:

Standard disks & pads are best bought from VW, as cheaper alternatives are likely to get warped more easily and won't perform / last as well.

For the money you would spend on uprated disks & pads on standard GTI calipers, you may as well buy a bigger brake kit that comes with everything

I have seen that ad I just live quite far from where the seller is :/
I just want to know what disc and pads VW use so I can buy them else where cheaper

Pagid IIRC, although watch out for cheap pagid, as there have been reports of sub-standard products

How about trying some grooved 312s with ebc yellowstuff pads, not too costly, amazing performance without the weight penalty of the s3/r32 brakes.

Mintex seem good value and are decent quality. Manufactured by TMD Friction who also own Textar and Pagid.
