Ebay decat downpipe
« on: December 16, 2014, 10:16:52 am »
Hi folks,

I've decided to take a punt on a ebay 3" decat downpipe after reading that rtech recommend using them. It seems a slightly better design than some with the small flexi also as this seems to be around 6" on the photos.

My question is can I put it on the car without any adverse effects for a while before I take my car for the stage 2 tuning? I know it will throw up the eml light on the dash but that doesn't bother me as it will be mapped out.

Thanks in advance for the help.  :happy2:

Just curious as I'm thinking of doing this myself.. Does the EML light not cause you to go into limp mode when planting your foot down or am i thinking of something else?

Cheers,
Carl.

I already have a 3" non res catback and revo CAI hope it's not too loud though. Could always have a resonator box put in I guess, ill let you know what it's like Carl.

I read that a common problem with the eBay downpipes with the small flexi pipes putting strain on the welds leading them to crack. The one I have bought has a much bigger flexi than most ebay cheap ones, comes with heat wrap and an option of 3" bore or the downsized pipe to mate upto a standard system. Delivered for £135. I'll let you know what quality and fit is like!

Surely just fitting a decat without mapping to suit will result in massive fueling issues and probably produce less power than a standard car  :jumping:

Make sure you do the mods in here to protect the flexi pipe:

This is why flexi pipes fail, too much engine movement  :sad1:

What difference in gains will I see between having a decat or just a 200 cell sports cat? Debating buying a 200 cell magna flow sports cat and getting it welded in??
