Poor fuel economy since service.

Hi peeps, looking for a bit of help. I got my GTi serviced on the 10th of this month and ever since the cars fuel economy has noticeably dropped away. Ive been going to work the same way for the past 4 years in the golf and the round trip usually brings about 35-37mpg . Last 2 weeks since service the cars struggling to hit 30 mpg even though ive been deliberately driving carefully to see if it was me at fault lol The cars Revo stage 1 and it also feels low on power if asked to push on, and sluggish to respond as if turbo lag kicking in. Cars not showing any fault lights but im beginning to get concerned that somethings a miss. Anyone any idea's?

Have you checked the revo settings? If they disconnected the battery in the service the settings will be 000, which will make your car drive like rubbish not sure what the mpg will be affected by

they were told not to disconnect the battery as it was remapped but im beginning to wonder. Not sure how to check the setting though

Usually due to plug gap differences. But, by serviced you mean....

What was changed at the service?

If it was serviced at Vw dealership you sure they haven't flashed the ecu with latest software revision and wiped your map off?

Knowing where you had it serviced and exactly what was replaced would be handy. When I had mine done by a local garage, they used wrong parts which effected my performance and economy so it's one possibility that the same has happened.

To adjust/restore Revo map settings at home, look at getting an SPS from Revo, Google it and read up.

Cheers guys. All that was done at the service was oil and filter change and all th usual checks. Minor service, nothing was changed, ie plugs, coils or anything like that . Im at a bit of a loss. The only real difference is the type of oil but I cant see that causing it, can it?

Plus it was at my local VW dealership it was done .

I would contact them and ask them to confirm if they took the battery off or flashed the ECU.

I would think that something coincidental has occurred with the timing of this service.
What usually begins failing that can decrease mileage is the MAF, coils, plugs, injector cleaning, intake valve cleaning, and even sensors...and in that order is how I would proceed.
So, when were those last replaced or done?

All plugs and coils about 3000 miles ago, never need any sensors up to now and haven't cleaned a thing lol. But I think I may have gotten to the bottom of the problem.................rear caliper is sticking on..........wheel was mad hot last night after I stopped. Strange thing is it wasn't doing it before the service so god knows what they've touched lol

↑ Love that! I have heard of an EOS with that issue, but not very common. Make sure it is locking when you arrive or they will likely say it is OK and send you down the road
