Croatia £.
« on: January 03, 2015, 07:30:21 pm »
Anyone got any experience in Croatia? Quite fancy giving it a go this year, weather looks good and so are the flight times. Can anyone tell me if it's cheap with it being away from the euro? Coffee, lunch or dinner prices on par with Europe or cheaper?

Cheers, Stevie.

I went to Dubrovnik a couple of years ago, and I'm dead keen to go to Croatia again (hopefully island hopping in the summer this time though, as it was early-winter when I went before)

Cafe prices were pretty similar to UK, I would say. Not as cheap as Bosnia and Slovakia, from my experience, though they are pretty cheap!

Since 2000 I have been to Croatia over 20 times as one of the best counties to go sailing given the Dalmatian coast, they are now in the eu but still have their own currency, generally best rates are over there compared to UK

Always reasonable money and people are friendly, food has a meet biase over there, never ventured down to Dubrovnik but it is more pricey but renowed for jazz bars

Going there this year and toying with driving down

I went last year and loved it.  I want to go back and see more of it.  I stayed in Dubrovnik which is quite expensive, but I'm sure the outlying areas are probably cheaper.

If you like fresh fish you'll love it as it featured highly on the menus of all the different restaurants we went to.  They have a slight Italian influence too so there's lots of pizza about as well :popcornsoda:

View of Dubrovnik from my company vehicle ;). I couldn't tell you what it's like on the ground, but the Dalmatian coast looks stunning from the air!

I ended up staying in Hotel Lapad. 10 out of 10 for everything, location, staff and food were all spot on. What a beautiful country.
