4WD edition30???
« on: January 06, 2015, 11:15:15 pm »
Currently stage2 at the moment and going stage2+ at the end of the month
Couple months later I'll be looking at getting a bigger turbo

The car already spins up a bit too much as it is and I was wondering can I make my edition30 4wd?
Any help would be much appreciated  :happy2:

I don't know of any that have been done but I imagine that you could get most of the parts (if not all) from an R32. Speak to Alex at AKS, he's doing a 4WD conversion on his Octavia I believe (I know its not the same as a MK5). He would probably know what you'd need

There has been a gti made into 4wd so yeah its possible if you get a doner car but it's a costly conversion and lot of metal work

yes its not a bad job jus wiring and you need to modify the wheel well

S3 gearbox, propshaft and rear subframe (inc diff ect).

@GarethB has bought all the bits to do his - if he hasn't sold it yet  :scared:

You need to cut out the spare wheel well and plate up. As the mk5 chassis is designed for 4wd the prop and everything else fit in just fine  :happy2:

Why not buy an R32 and swap out the V6 for a 4 pot Edition 30 or S3 motor?! No need for all that body & suspension work.
Just a thought....

Like others have said it's not to bad to do. I collected the parts slowly from eBay and various vag breakers. All in I think it was just shy of 1k for parts and my labour was free. It took me and a friend around 20 hours from start to finish. The most time consuming part was removing the interior to weld the centre propshaft supports.

What about some sticky rubber and a diff? Pikey on here and Ryan from Midnight Garage are running 500+ with just the front wheels driven...
