water on the roof = wet drivers leg
« on: January 13, 2015, 09:01:01 am »
I love my GTI but one this that is driving me a little mad ( only had the 5dr car 3 mnths ) is when the car is stood on flat level ground and it has rained and water has settles on the roof.  If I get in and drive less and a metre, normally to get out and move the dustbin, all the water from the roof rushes forward and soaks me as I open the drivers door.

I guess I need to just need to move it forward and wait, but it always catches me out.

minor rant over....

:)

I was thinking a garage would be the answer, but wind deflectors would be a cheaper option.

hang on I'm being daft, how do wind deflectors help, its when I open the door the water comes gushing in from the roof, wind deflectors won't help.

I guess I need to train myself to remember !

Decent LSP?
Wait a few seconds after opening the door before you get out?
Move the bins first so you don't have to get out after?

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

yeah its annoying. water beads on the roof and as you set off if you put the window down a little bit you get soaked. lack of roof rails looks sexy though so i can live with it
