Stage 2+, CDL conversion or MK7 R

As Above really, I'm currently on just a remap and intake i also have an exhaust but hasn't been mapped since it was fitted.

I have had stage 2+ plans for a while, and then I thought that £2500 for 25bhp 60LB/F was a bit much so I changed my mind and thought to do a CDL engine conversion. Then I wondered if I wanted to spend all that money on a 10 year old car so considered leasing a MK7 R (I'm test driving one tomorrow)

So as you can see I'm a very indecisive person (which drives me insane sometimes) So has anybody gone from what I have to stage 2+? I need some perspective I think so I can compare it to the R and my current setup. Is it a nice bit of extra power or transformed?

Any advice appreciated.

Stage 2+.  Everyone and there dog has got a mk7R.

Mk6 R.

 Best of both worlds, engine wise and 4WD and you'll be able to mod it whereas you'll be stuck with 300 ponnies with your borrowed Mk7.

That's sort of whats putting me off, its a very nice car it'll be an easy life with no MOT full warranty etc.. But its not as special as mine is to me even if it can be a PITA sometimes

I haven't got the cash in my pocket unfortunately, I could scrape about 12K absolute Max.

I went through all this a while back, half decent Gti at stage 2+ still as solid as a rock with 100K on the clock.  A decent BYD came up for a steel so that's going in.  Will have cost me £2,500 all in when fitted and I'll be around 350 ponies or so with existing hardware on.
Oh forgot the £1K on LSD as well 

A new car is a big outlay and the mk5 with a few styling mods can still look superb.  If your car is in good condition still then stick a CDL in for not much outlay and run it for a couple of years.    

When you sell up I even think a low mileage CDL conversion might attract the enthusiast more so in a couple of years rather than something like a 100K AXX or BWA in the engine bay, plus you'll have had a couple of years of

It's interesting what you say about 100k AXX being solid running stage 2+ because that's exactly what I'd be looking at. I thought I may run into issues with the age and the way I like to drive it, however it's a pretty clean engine and I look after it the best I can V-power, millers, never thrashed cold etc...

I've just been driving myself a bit mad because I can't just take all three options to a track and then chose which one I want unfortunately 

Maybe I'll stage 2+ and just drive it how I want and if it breaks then I'll take it from there.

Bloody tricky one this. Don't bother with a mk7 R, as good as they are leasing one will mean you're forced to drive it stock the whole time. Plus you then have to give it back and then watch it get sold for silly cheap money (by people like me), and you'll think that if you just saved all the money you spent on a lease deal you could of bought it instead in a few years.

In the mean time, stage 2+ you current engine. If it's still not enough, get a CDL engine. Just make sure you buy stage 2+ parts that can swap over (mainly thinking about the intake here) so then you can instantly stage 2+ a CDL engine should you wish.
