Sorry to hijack your thread but whats the deal with the VW rust warranty? GTI is on an 06 plate and not seen a VW dealership for servicing for a few years. Can see rust on the boot and wins usual places but look to have been covered slightly with touch up paint by previous owner. Does that void any chance of me getting it fixed under warranty?
Not sure how keen I am on taking it into a VW dealer anyway so might just get it sorted at my preferred and reliable body shop but good to know.

Touch up paint doesn't sound too good, I'd imagine they would refuse it for that.. but the only way you will know for sure is to take it down and get them to check it out. It doesn't matter if it hasn't seen a VW dealership for servicing, they didn't ask or check my log book. As long as it's genuine paint, you're covered
