RCD 300 ipod connection wiring
« on: February 12, 2015, 12:50:56 pm »
Hi, currently the ipod wire comes out of the glovebox. This is annoying as reaching over to change tracks can be a problem, especially since the ipod is soo small. Is there anyway of moving the ipod connector wire nearer to the middle, next to the power socket and esp buttons?

Infact could this be changed to an aux as well?

Thank you.

I'm intrigued.. I have an RCD300 head unit in my ed30 and I've never been able to connect my iPod through it! Although the cars come standard with an iPod dock in the arm rest.. I was told it's because my head unit is outdated.

I don't even know how to connect it through the glovebox - how've you done it?

If you can get behind the RCD (you may have to remove it) you can pass the cable between the carpet and the plastic surround in the middle so that cable can loop up to where esp button is.  This is what I did with the AUX in cable on mine.

Hi my car came with. I think its just a wire thats plugged from the back of the radio, that happens to lead to the glovebox, like the other poster on here said. If you have a  search, you should be able to find it on ebay and I heard its quite easy to do. But i would get the AUX, then you can plug whatever you want in

I'm just confused that's all, my boyfriend linked up a cable connected through the back of the head unit but when you press CD twice to search for an aux input, nothing happens :( He's normally quite good with stuff like that but he couldn't suss it! He's installed electric windows into an old Polo that had olympic windows as standard.. Yet my mk5s aux input is apparently too difficult

Is it the "Connect2" adaptor.  If so, in addition to the plug you needs a separate ground connection to the case of the RCD 300. If I remember correctly there is a loose black wire - i used a small self tapping screw to fix it to one of the holes in the metal casing of RCD 300

there seem to be parallel threads going on on same topic
