Fuel Gauge Stuck!
« on: February 18, 2015, 06:44:09 pm »
Hey,

I hope someone can help me with this. I've got a 2005 mk5 Golf 1.9TDI and recently the fuel gauge on the cluster is stuck just below half way. The miles remaining on the display is stuck at 220 and the temperature works but does hit 90.

I had the car fully serviced last week and there was an issue with the fuel pump which was changed by the garage. Since then I drove the car for a week not realising the gauge and mileage hadn't moved (my bad I know) and eventually I ran out of fuel. Put some more fuel in, had issues starting the car but eventually started.

Anyway since that service the fuel gauge has been stuck. I went back and they've booked it in again to check it out but I thought I'd get some advice from here first. As it was initially the fuel gauge that was noticed I thought it might be the sender unit but now noticing the temperature gauge not hitting 90 I'm not too sure now.

Any advice or any trouble shooting advice would be great.

Try getting it scanned with vcds. or get someone with vag commander to reset the clusters
