Throttle Body Problem
« on: February 27, 2015, 04:08:04 pm »
Hi folks.
Really hoping someone can help me with a throttle body problem. Everything running great 4 months after buying my unmodded petrol 05 GTI until yesterday. I started the car as normal and it went straight into Limp mode. Sounded absolutley terrible ...  :surprised:  I limped up to a friends garage who has VCDS and after a scan and several failed attempts at resetting the codes, we're wondering what to do next. Hopefully it'll just require a clean but I'm wondering if anyone knows of the best (cheapest) place to buy a replacement TB if needed?  I've had a read through of the various related threads on here and found a ebay link to a German supplier but that sale has now ended.

Any help would be greatly appreciated ...  :happy2:

Cheers

Cheers.

Is the K04 TB the same as the K03 though?

Maybe best course of action is to give Alex a bell.

Thanks again

Cheers Freddy
Just missed out on that one though.
Update on the problem is that all seems fine again now!!!
Went back to it the following morning and had a fiddle with the wiring which seemed a bit untidy and loose.  Realigned the TB with vcds after and then tried to reset the fault codes.  This time they reset and my car then started up fine again?  Not sure what to do now,  may still buy a new TB as there must be an underlying problem somewhere.
Car still sounded a bit rougher now than it did but we think the cam follower could be the reason for that.  I've not long had the cam belt done for the second time as the car has just passed the 80k mark so we're going to change the cam follower this week.
Cheers for any help given, or for any ideas what to do now.  Can't see that the problem has sorted itself and it is bound to reappear at some point...
