S3 brake line fitment
« on: February 28, 2015, 11:38:01 pm »
I ordered HEL braided lines and was sent female fitment one end and banjo the other. When Midland VW went to fit these it seems I need female on both ends.

HEL have said the fitment data Audi supplied is either incorrect or the setups differentiate between cars. Photo of mine is below - what fitment do you with S3 brakes have?

I had the same problem with mine. Got HEL braided lines for R32 front brakes but the bolt for the banjo didn't fit the caliper. My mechanic got a lathe to make the correct bolts.

I asked the seller if they had problems in the past with their HEL braided lines but they didn't after selling >40 IIRC.

Well those are wrong.

The way you fit those is to remove the Z shaped hardline and use a banjo bolt to connect the HEL line to the caliper.

BUT... that end should really be slightly angled.

Thank you, this is still ongoing  :indifferent:

Reply from HEL about your photo:
"Appreciate you've tried to source some information but I'm sorry what you are showing me here isn't for your car - the lines in the picture are our lines, for a bog standard MK5 Golf R32. A kit which we've designed specifically to delete the original hard line and go directly to the caliper"

I've told him the calipers are the same but I'm not sure about length etc. Sourcing information for an off the shelf product isn't really something a consumer should need to be doing
