Windscreen Replacement - Where is the thread?
« on: March 02, 2015, 11:14:16 am »
I remember a good few months back there was a thread on here for a guy that had to get his windscreen replaced but he was given a non oem glass and battled several times until he got the right one.

Any idea who that was or if they happened to bookmark that thread. Had a look there but couldn't find it.

My car is an 05 so it has the blue tint glass and I want to make sure I get the same when autoglass replace my windscreen.

Anybody and ideas?

They will replace it with the right glass so no need to worry.
Autoglass did mine fine.

I had one replaced in my old Audi by Autoglass, It was effective & distorted the view, so I insisted they replace it with OEM, it wasn't a problem.

Just tell them what you want

After several calls to and from the insurer and autoglass they've told me it'll be the OEM blue glass and not a reproduction.

She also agreed that on the day when he shows up, if he has the wrong glass or in any way non oem that I can cancel the whole thing.

There's nothing wrong with "non oem" glass.
Aside from being 60% of the price of an OEM glass.
My Golf had a replacement non-OEM correctly tinted windscreen and you wouldn't have known the difference  :happy2:
