Wifes A4
« on: November 27, 2009, 08:28:31 pm »
Hi

Know it's not a golf but tried the audi website & didn't get a response.

I put the A4 in to get the bumper sprayed & when I collected it the drivers display system, mileage & time & date are totally blank.

Any ideas?

Looked at the fuses but all seems ok

Cheers

Gary

not sure, that's the only three that are out & the screens are just black.  Speedo & rev counter are all lighting up.

can you take a photo/video of startup?

was this an issue before the work was carried out? surely if the case is that it has appeared afterwards (immediately afterwards) then it should be garages ghost hunt?

dislodged wiring loom?

i'm going to hazard a guess at a loose/lost physical connection there mate at the back of the clocks

did you get the bumper sprayed due to an impact?

Bumper was done due to some slight scratching, all was working fine before it went in.

Do you think the heat could have affected it?  Would the connection be behind the clocks?

heat from a paint oven shouldnt have effected it, mines been in a couple of times now for jobs

unless they dicked about with the battery and shorted the unit then i would say you are more likely looking at a physical problem - i could be way off the mark, its only my opinion/best guess :happy2:

is there an inspection panel for the clocks underneath the bonnet on the scuttle panel plastic?

Check the manual as isn't there an option to turn the display off? If so try it in reverse?

id think the display will be just switched off like said,  i know you can turn the highline off on Golfs.  id check your owners manual mate to see if theres any info on turning it back on.    have you tried pressing any of the buttons that control the screen?
Still Here!

Press the reset button on the stalk a few times that should turn it back on. If not try pressing it and holding it for a few seconds.

Incase you dont know the reset button is the button underneath the stalk.

My last car was an Audi S4 - it *looks* like the DIS has been turned off (apologies if this has already been thought of!)

On the base of the right-hand indicator stalk, there's a DIS on/off button.....

Again, apologies if you've already looked at this
