Faulty indicator/cruise control stalk.
« on: March 04, 2015, 08:47:26 am »
Hi, I'm new to the forum.  I've just bough myself an 05 Golf Gti and it's developed a problem.

When I indicate right, the indicators will flash right once and then they will start to flash left, even though I haven't moved the indicator stalk.
Sometimes, if I hold the stalk in place it will continue to flash in the correct direction

I think I may need a new stalk?

The stalk also has the cruise control, looking online it looks like the standard part number was 1K0 953 513A, but when I spoke to VW they gave me a part number of 1K0 953 513E.
Looking at pictures of that part number on the internet, it seems that stalk is slightly different to the one fitted to my car.  The symbols on the stalk are slightly different, it does appear to have all the sam functions though.

Does anybody know if the old part number was superseded and whether the new part number 1K0 953 513E will definitely fit my car.

Also, will I need to get the new stalk coded to the car, even if my car already comes with cruise control etc?
If it does need coding, where would I be able to get this done and how much would it likely cost?

Sorry for so many questions for a first post!  And I will get pictures up of the car etc. when the weather gets a little better.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Buddy,

Welcome to the forum. I have Cruise Control stalks ending in G, brand new for £35 posted. You wont need it coded as you already have cruise control.

If you are near London, I can supply and fit for you.

Sadly not anywhere near London, I'm up in Bradford.

Is your part genuine OEM?

Cheers

Great stuff, I'll have the stalk in that case.
I don't think I can send PMs yet as I don't have enough posts.
Do you want to email me on ryantop@googlemail.com and we can sort out payment as I need the part ASAP!!

Cheers
