7P6 Bluetooth Module has stopped working
« on: March 16, 2015, 07:53:15 pm »
Hi. Hoping someone here can help.  My bluetooth module has stopped working.  I was on a phone call and it just died.  Managed to reconnect my phone to it but then the same thing happened again and now it doesn't even show up in the list of bluetooth devices when I search for it.

I scanned the car and the results are below.  Is there any fix for this or is the module gone bad?

You say the module cannot be found when you search for it with your phone, but is it still recognized by the head unit? Have you tried resetting it to factory defaults?

You say the module cannot be found when you search for it with your phone, but is it still recognized by the head unit? Have you tried resetting it to factory defaults?

When I go to the phone menu it Says something like "Mobile Telephone Not Inserted or Connected".  Also when I go to the Media section the BT Audio feature is greyed out.

I tried disconnecting the battery but It didn't do anything. When I first got the problem I did the factory reset.  Will try again.

If I don't plug in the module at all I cannot access the phone screen or the media section so it does seem to be doing something.  Definitely seems like there is a fault with it though and I only got it at Christmas.

Do these modules fail often I wonder? Reluctant to buy another one if this is going to happen again

Sounds like your head unit is aware of the bluetooth module then. Do you have a 'Telephone' menu on the MFD? I have a 3C8 module (9wZ, similar to 9w7 as you have) and I initialize the pairing from the MFD, not from the phone. Are you able to do so? I also have a 'Visibility' option, do you have that so you can check that it is enabled? Don't know why it would have been disabled in the first place, but anyway...

My last suggestion is to physically inspect the wiring harness at both ends to look for damaged or bent pins, do a continuity check etc.

Dont have the Telephone menu in the MFD as I don't have the highline clocks.  I think the next option is to inspect the wiring and maybe try pairing with a different phone.  I'll update if I have any success
