Lower engine mount
« on: April 02, 2015, 08:22:30 pm »
I currently have a powerflex lower engine mount and although it's tightened the engine movement up and hopefully protecting my downpipe the vibration at a standstill, edging forward or reversing make the car shake like a sh*tting dog. I am aware there will be a slight increase in the cabin vibration but there must be other designs/brands that surely reduce this??

I have emailed hurdy for a price on HPA mount just waiting a reply

What others are people using?

I use the Vibratechnics one and the vibration is negligible, just a very slight increase in transmission whine.

It's the side mounts that transmit the most vibes.  I had those in Vibratechnics as well (fast road flavour), but swiftly removed them in favour of fresh standard ones, which to be fair works well enough for most peeps with the VT dogbone.  All 3 uprated is really horrible for a daily driver imo.

I think when folk buy a GTI on the original mounts, they assume that's how bad they are standard and go from one extreme to the other, but I'd recommend trying new standards first before going uprated as they are  a lot better than knackered old ones.

Cheers, they look about £130 and as I only paid £25 for the powerflex then that's probably why it shakes like a shi##ing dog

Vibratehnics fast road FTW! I have it also installed with 032 top mounts.
The vibrations are almost unnoticeable.

I too am interested in a hpa lower mount. The advert's durometer versions baffle me a little tbh!

I'd want the next stage up from the vwr fast road lower mount but without the 'sh*tting dog' vibes that Sug describes well...

Any suggestions on a hpa lower coupled with FR3s for a 320bhp dsg ed30?

Cheers...
