I've bought the 5.5inch backing plate.

Also thinking about getting this for the DAS6 will it help get rid of the deeper scratches?

Moving on to my next problem the top of the bumper under the boot is badly scratched should i put some wet and dry to this?

The chemical guys microfibres are good and will get out some heavy stuff.

If your having issues getting the rupes polish off you might be using too much/ not working it in long enough. It should be pretty clear by the time you've finished polishing and that's when its ready to buff off. Otherwise maybe spraying on some quick detailed will help when buffing off. I do find cloths that are too thick/ soft don't buff off polish well, they're great for wax but for polish I use a good quality all purpose microfibre as they're a good balance between soft yet firm enough to remove easily.

If would go easy on that door and start light then work up slowly if it needs more.

I would maybe try some 2000 on that scratch if you can't get it out with just polishing, 2000 then 2500 then a good polishing should come up nice. Maybe watch a couple of YouTube demo's on wetsanding as you can learn a lot from them.

Thanks again for your help. I've ordered more microfibers most of mine are too soft. A couple work well but i'm sure the seams may be scratching the paint. I struggle buffing the red mist off also so Ive mixed some IPA with water (hope this is ok).  Will give the wet and dry a go.

Its a good job i'm not getting paid by the hour this is taking ages.

Put some wet and dry to the bumper i got a bit  bottled out and buffed it back up some of the deeper scratches came out nicely.

My next obstacle i have no idea how it happened 6 scratches running across most of the bumper. 

I can catch my nail on these so i suspect they are all the way through the paint. Anything i can do?

That would make sense in a county where its totally normal to bump other cars when parking.

So a new bumper would be best?

If it was bumped again wouldn't it split in the same place?

And it also depends how hard it's bumped too. It's had a decent bump for that to happen

It will get bumped again and again in this country, i thought there may be a weakness there hence my silly question above.

The bumper has no other signs that its been hit hard.

Will move on to a different panel and get some quotes for the bonnet and bumper in the new year.

If there's a good paint shop over there they should be able to colour match the paint and local the repair in instead of painting the full bumper

There are a couple of paint shops local but every time i walk past i cringe as the cars are bumper to bumper no room to even open the doors.
