Best OEM disc/ pad set up?
« on: May 29, 2015, 10:03:44 am »
Hi Folks,

I have an ED30 with standard OEM Pagid brakes which need replacing. I don't want to spend a fortune upgrading to a R32+ setup. A mate of mine recommended EBC Turbo Groove Discs with EBC Red stuff pads (he's running a turbo'd MX-5).

Done a bit of research which seems to give you even more options rather than narrow them down!

I'm thinking OEM Pagid discs with Ferodo DS2500s? But then I'm reading that the DS2500s might not be street legal?

What is the best OEM set up for Fast Road use?

Cheers

I wouldn't recommend the red stuff for street, mine were crap from cold... The yellowstuff are OK, EBC are by no means the best quality of pad, but I found the Yellowstuff better than the standard pad.

I've tried drilled/slotted discs on the standard caliper and found no difference to the solid OEM disc, they look nicer behind the wheel but make a racket.

Most of the decent pads aren't street legal, DS2500 / M1144s etc.

Thanks for the reply dude!

I'm def thinking of steering clear of the EBC stuff now.
