8 Days....2014miles, 4.5 tanks

Just got back off a mammoth road trip to my parents in France (Vienne Region)

Finally put the car to rest today...

Trip was showing 2014miles...36.2mpg. So about 430 miles to a Tank :)

75-80mph with Cruise on for as much of the journey as possible.

4.5 tanks for over 2000 miles that's not bad at all is it! It just proves the GTI is a pretty frugal car if it needs to be. I'm hoping to do a camping trip to Southern, mid France next year and perhaps even see my mate in Rodez so it's good to get an idea of cost etc. Any problems with the at all?

Not one issue, it also didn't seem to loose any performance with all the extra weight (2 Adults 2 Old Kids + Boot full), so about an extra 350kgs ish on board I reckon.

I had an indicated 475mile range after filling up mid journey :) Not bad for a DSG!

2000 miles on 4.5 tanks fully loaded  :surprised:, I used 3 tanks doing about 750 miles to Amsterdam and back with 1 passenger.

French Toll roads help...Hrs at 75mph with no stopping or other cars making me slow down :)

Those French Toll roads are excellent, only really used by Trucks, and completely barren most of the time... remember maxing my old 9-5 Aero on one of those roads at 3 in the morning going down to Le Mans :mad: :evilgrin: Great fun.

I recently took mine to Cornwall and on the A roads down there I was seeing 400 miles per tank, I think my mark 5 is better on fuel than my mark 3.

Genuinely, I've had virtually 500 miles from a tank. All motorway at 65-70mph on cruise, was boring but possible!
