Metal to metal knocking from the rear?
« on: June 08, 2015, 05:07:30 pm »
It started on Friday and I thought it was my NSR stone guard had let go (I've recently cut off my OSR guard as it had rusted) but it's absolutely solid. So this avo I jacked the car up for a quick look and everything seems tight with no obvious damage. The only thing I noticed on the tap test was the bottom of the coil spring (OSR) where it meets the arm sounded a bit tinny, where as the other side not jacked up seemed a solid noise. Both springs are integral so wondering if there is some form of mount at the bottom of the spring has perished?

Found it :drinking:. I jacked the car up on the OSR, had a really good look and couldn't see anything amiss. The I put my fingers into the trough of the wishbone and there is half of a turn of coil spring loose. That explains the metal to metal noise as its rattling around in its new home. It's quite rusted. Can I replace just the sing sprin?. The car is standard suspension wise.....
