It's the only way front off and the install will be damage free :happy2:

I would of been tempted to fit the lifting bracket where the aux belt tension goes since the box is still left in.

T10339 tool http://workshop-manuals.com/volkswagen/golf-mk5/power_unit/4-cylinder_injection_engine_(2.0_l_engine_turbocharger)/engine_cylinder_head_valve_gear/cylinder_head/removing_and_installing_toothed_belt_vehicles_with_split_toothed_belt_guard/
Better postion for getting the angles right for gear box mating.

Basically new oil strainer fitted. Only need new gaskets for the oil return pipe now and that's the engine complete.

Will be ordering a new clutch kit and flywheel in the next couple of days and fingers crossed I can start the refitting process at weekend. If all goes well, if the weather is good and I start early enough then I think I could have it done in a day.

Ahh I see... I've got plenty of tools, trolleys, jacks, lifting straps and chains so I should be able to get through it lol
If all else fails then I'll try and make something similar.

With the front end off the car I think it should go on nicely, if not then there will be a lot of swearing! Lol

There's been no progress this weekend in my back garden garage... I ended up having a day out on the bike in Wales yesterday and after a few beers last night while watching the boxing I'm in no fit state to be handling tools lol

I'll be cracking on next weekend with the help of a mate. So she should be driving this time next week  :happy2:

What's the best way to upload a video on here? I'd like to put one on when she's running.

Ready and waiting for Saturday  :happy2:  just put the inlet manifold on tonight, doubled checked everything is tight and put the updated fuel pipes on so cam follower changes will be easier in the future.

Well got the engine in today... Abit fiddly but overall not to bad. Filled her up with oil and coolant. Pulled the fuel pump fuse and coil pack connectors off, gave it a crank over just make sure oil got everywhere. Fuse back in, coil packs connected and it started straight away.

Engine sounds sweet!

Only bad point is that the plate that goes between the engine and gearbox seems to catching somewhere on the flywheel and making a right horrible noise  :sad1:
I've not put it completely back together as I'm not sure how to sort it out yet and I've had enough for one day.

Wrong length would give you the problem!

I'm struggling to work out where that bolt would be on the car?? Is it the one for the small inspection panel on the back??

If so then it's not that as I have removed that panel upon hearing the noise. I'm hopeing it's not that so there's something else for me to try lol

That's the one I've seen fitted back to long and cause your noise,so it's not that then.
