That's massively low. I get 30-31mpg around town and 44-45mpg cruising on the motorway at 70. Around 80mph that drops to 40mpg

I can literally see the gauge going down. The car is running better than ever though. Nino how heavy is your right foot?

Mine is also stock bwa engine on 70k miles
Never really see less than 30 round town and comfortably 40 on motorway runs!

If i really open it up occasionally on my way home from work i may see low 20's briefly  :happy2:

This is the accumulative figure since I last reset it. The kids are in the car most of the time which should improve my MPG.

Mine was always low 30s but since removing my pre cat and always using 99ron fuel rather than 97ron mixed driving im getting high 30s and 40 - 42 on motorway. Car is stock apart from carbonio intake

Mines stock bar pre-cat removal and panel filter. I'm generally 20's round town and 30's on motorway. All time best is 38.6 mpg. My right foot is reasonably heavy.

I've been through 2 tanks since buying my 2005 GTI.

35mpg on tank 1, 36mpg on tank 2. Rural B roads,  motorway and a bit of town.

I use it for commuting so a bit of hooning but 70% normal driving.

Could there be anything that could cause the low MPG apart from my heavy right foot?

I get a noise from the fuel tank sometimes sounds like a plopping noise i open the fuel cap which releases the pressure and the noise stops.

This is not my vid i will take one next time i have the noise. Sounds like this.

My stage 1+ AXX average is 23.3mpg over the last 1400 miles. But I spend most of my time spanking it so if you're getting that average driving like a sensible person I'd say something is up. Do you ever get a really dusty or hot corner of the car like a caliper is stuck?

No brake dust or heat. Shouldn't the warmer weather also improve my MPG?

High 20s for me. Never got over 30mpg. That's slow lane on motorway doing 70mph  :surprised:

Yup, the last few weeks I've gained at least 2-3mpg on motorway journeys
