Ramair induction kit

Who has this kit? How loud is it? Also with the k04 kit fit onto the k03? The k04 looks better than the k03 kit??

I've got this kit. There's 2 of them - the 70mm pipe work and the 90mm pipe work. I have the 90mm.
It's the same kit for the k03 and k04. It's comes with a blanking plug if you have a k03 engine.
Noise wise it's pretty loud with whooshes, dumps and chatter. My car dyno'd 216bhp with the kit alone.
Only issue was the instructions... Awful with steps missing where you have to use your head a bit.

looks a nice bit of kit, on the ebay page its for £189.99, 90mm version. but if you buy 2 the second one is half price. effectively £142.50 each. very good price that.

Would love to see how it affects the torque curve as quite a few people say you lose out on torque at low revs!

I fitted a RamAir kit onto my GTI, and I lost a bit of low end torque but gained quite a bit at the upper end of the rev range. I got mine for £155 (think I got a 70mm version mind) but for the cost it's brilliant. When you think the more expensive ones are over double the cost but don't net twice the gains this kit does it's crazy to spend more!

Power gain or loss will be negligible anyway and won't really make any difference in the real world.

Interesting that most tuners recommend an intake as part of stage 2 hardware though.

There's a thread somewhere covering the real need for an aftermarket intake on stage 2, or whether the standard intake does the job. Opinion was divided. I'd bet the real gains come from the downpipe and cat.

But yeah, without sending this thread off on a tangent, I'm kind of with you - in that while I wouldn't call the peak gains of an aftermarket intake negligable, I'd question just how essential they are for stage 2 maps.

If you're buying for the noise then there's nothing wrong with that. I think a lot of us have grown up hearing Cossies, Evos and the like, hissing and chattering up the road, and I'd be lying if I said I didn't think 'wow!!!!' at the time!

See, that's my point. I'm staying on a standard map, at a push I may go stage 1 further down the line.  Not massively bothered about big power as it's not as if you can really use it on our roads anyway. Plus don't want the associated costs of uprated clutch etc.

Always found that the quest for big bhp figures are more willy waving than anything else!
Just my opinion though and no doubt many people will disagree with me.

Anyway, didn't mean to derail the thread!
