Recommend a VW Specialist in West Yorkshire
« on: July 11, 2015, 09:25:21 am »
I'm looking to get my cam belt & water pump changed, along with a full service. Can anybody recommend a VW Specialist in West Yorkshire. I'm in Bradford but don't mind a bit of travel for a good garage.
Don't really want to be paying main dealer money, plus the JCT600 VW dealer round here is absolutely useless!

Cheers

I've heard good things about Stattler's in Sheffield. Never used them personally tho.

I've heard of them too. Just a little too far for me though, had a quote from them for work done and if I add the cost of fuel it works out as the same as dealer prices.

Thanks though.

Id happily recommend white rose VW at Crosshills, speak with Darren Hudson, service manager, or Ben Smith, service reception manager. You say you dont want to pay dealership prices, I never have!! They always price match, whether it be a specialist or seat/skoda fixed price, which is often cheaper.

Im local in bingley and when I have rung round specialists its only been £10-30 cheaper on servicing, disc/pads were no cheaper. My car only goes to one of the techs, who I have got to know well over the years, so they all know how bad I am with my car, even spent two weeks on jury service with him a few years ago.  Oh happy to deal with modified cars, aslong as you tell them, or deal with my requests not to wash it!!!

To be honest it's not just the price that is the issue with dealers.  It's also their lack of knowledge and the way they treat customer cars.
Independents are a better experience all round, they are very aware of the need for repeat business to keep them going. Whereas the dealers know there will always be a steady stream of customers who think they are only able to use main dealers to look after their cars.

Overall they are too complacent and treat customers and their cars with a lack of respect.

I'm from huddersfield and VAST are very popular here for VAG motors. Kaiser is the ex vw technician but there is another chap who is a Saab specialist who also works there. I myself have never had any work done from them but I know people who have and rate him highly.

I searched around for a specialist to do my cam belt. In the end i did it myself.

Having done the job i don't see the big deal any capable mechanic should be able to manage it.
