Hi All,
I purchased on 2005 Golf GTI back in April which I suddenly realised had no boost.
As the car had a short warranty I took it back and over the following 2 weeks they replaced the Rear Timing Chain along with the VVT. They also replaced the DV and the PCV
I also paid extra to get the front belt and water pump changed
Prior to me purchasing the car they had already replaced the fuel pump and cam follower as the rear chain at that time was slightly noisy
When I got the car back it was perfect with a lot of boost
That was until last week when the weather was in the 30s. I drove back from work on the motorway in heavy traffic at 10mph for 90 mins
The next day I went out in her and straight away noticed the boost was not there when setting off
I purchased a revision D DV and fitted this yesterday along with a quick check of the pipes
All looked ok
The car however is still not boosting when setting off although if I hold it in 3rd gear and gradually build up the speed it suddenly kicks in
So I presume my Turbo is still working
I have been reading up on it and am now wondering if the waste gate actuator is playing up? (Stuck open) as the exhaust seems louder
Any ideas before I lift the car up again tomorrow to take a look?
How easy is it to check the waste gate area?
Cheers Jay
