Stop warning : low brake fluid
« on: July 12, 2015, 05:23:16 pm »
Been getting this message, I top up and it drops again over a fortnight.

No leaks on drive.

Any ideas?

It'll be a slow leak somewhere and will likely be inside your wheels. Brake fluid is highly corrosive so check you're wheels for signs of paint peeling. Chances are its a broken seal so it'll vaporise away anyway, you may need to take each wheel off and remove the discs and pads to fully inspect each calipers in turn.

Moving over to Flickr, sorry for the broken picture links!

A brake fluid leak isn't really something you should be remedying by topping up then driving as normal.

If you or a garage can't look at it ASAP then I would consider not driving it for now.
Used to have Edition 30 - number 009 and a GT TDI 140.
Now have an S4 B8 Avant (stage 2)

Thanks guys

I agree with both comments. Will get under it tonight and have a look.

Update - having just shone a torch through all of the wheels one has severe wrinkling and crazing on the barrel beyond the spokes. Bet that is being caused by leaking fluid.

Little update - I booked the car into Autotechnic Wokingham the next day.

The rear nearside caliper is leaking.

Getting a new Euro Car Parts caliper, brembo discs and pads.
