DV Valve connector plug exploded!!!! HELP!!
« on: July 21, 2015, 09:39:58 pm »
Hi

I was checking my DV tonight and the connector exploded!!!  :chicken:

It was brittle and wouldn't budge until I persuaded it with a screw driver which sent it over the edge :rolleye:

What is it with these connectors?!  I seem to have more fail on me than come apart and go back together again as they should!  I think they perish and get brittle....

Anyone know if I can get a new connector?  I did this for my coil packs when the connectors there gave up the ghost although I don't see a purple retaining collar on the DV connector.

Comments very welcomed! :drinking:

Thanks :star:

Yeah the dealers sell the connector housings and aren't expensive.   You'll need a pin extractor set to get the pins out of the old housing though.

The trick with those plugs is to press down whilst releasing the tab, which releases the tension on it.  Never broken one to date doing that.

Yeah, there's definitely a knack to them... I've found a few broken ones over the car... namely the coil pack connectors (VW had been working exclusively on the car to that date too!)
