Ah, you got off lightly there! I ended up paying nearly double that...
My original steering lock had gone and so had the lock barrel. I needed booth replaced. My mechanic locked out the first one because he fitted it and tested it without the new barrel in it - it warns you in the instructions to be fair... he replaced it anyway. Then there were issues with the immobilis
Spare key replacement

Does anyone know roughly how much a spare key for a mk5 with remote locking etc on there would be to be cut and programmed. I have the working original and not bothered about OEM. Been quoted 220£ by someone which seems steep. I am in Blackheath south London.

Aye, it does seem to be more frequent these days, just times out when loading, once it is loaded it is fine but just getting there in the first place is the issue!
Mine is just about to click over 100k miles, it had 78k on it when I bought it, was a pretty clean example then

Hi,
The air conditioning on my Mk5 Golf GTI hasn’t worked for a few years. I’ve previously had it regassed and tried the usual checks, but it still doesn’t get cold.
I inspected the compressor with the engine running and noticed that the outer pulley section spins with the auxiliary belt, but the centre hub around the compressor shaft remains stationary.

Collinite 845 for me on black, it's cheap and lasts stupidly long. Fusso Coat's also popular if you want an easier on/off. Honestly on black the prep (clay + polish first) makes way more difference than which wax you pick — a mediocre wax on a properly polished panel beats a premium wax on a panel with swirls still in it.

Hi guys,
I'#039ve haven'#039t had a proper play yet since getting my car back from the garage but I'#039m sure a setting or something has been changed/reset...
I'#039m used to my rear wiper automatically kicking in when I put the car in reverse (and it'#039s raining) or when I'#039ve manually triggered the front wipers, like I did this AM because there was dew on the windscreen
