Did you follow any diy guide or just go at it?
I've taken off the c pillars before so I'm hoping to be comfortable that end. It's the front I'm not sure about...

Here is the diy i followed, things are more or less the same apart from the c pillars.

Just picked the car up (2006 GTI) after full service.  Needed new rear brake calipers so had the fronts refurbished at the same time. Original red coloured calipers behind silver 18 inch Monzas, IMO, look really well.  New DV as well.  Wow, what a transformation - the quickness is back!

Also had 4 x Continental  sport contact 6s fitted.  Was on  Conti sport contact 5s before. Lots of threads on here about tyres.  I know the choice of tyres is down to personal taste, and budgetary constraints, but I have always highly rated Contis on the GTI. Good wet and dry grip.  My one issue was they wear quickly and can therefore be expensive.  The 6s are supposed to have addressed that, we shall see.  I do think, however, they offer more grip than the 5s, although in fairness that may be comparing new tyres with worn!  Still got to drive with some enthusiasm this afternoon, just to try them (and the DV).  Highly rewarding.

There are no Continental SportContact 6 for 18'' wheels, as far as I know. You must have bought another model of Continental tyres.

Just finished cleaning the engine bay.  Quick hose down with pressure washer (covered the alterator), then plenty APC sprayed on, left for a bit then agitated with brushes.  Wash down, quick dry and then Aerospace 303 to dress.

30 minute job including all tidying up, great job, engine bay looks like the car just left the showroom.     :happy2:

Hi guys

Cleaned my EGR on my GT TDI after completing over 130,000 miles. Safe to say it was pretty much crudded up! Throttle response is better!

Finally got the gfb dv+ installed, my rev g was fine with no tears.
Can't feel any difference at all....what's the hype about? Least I didn't pay full price for it

Have you tried to WOT after partial throttle pressure? The engine responsiveness is much better and it's a noticeable improvement. Go drive on a canyon road and try to remember how your throttle response was before.

Interestingly enough, I took out my DV+ and refitted my old revision D OEM last week and it drives better!

Ohlins thrown on and CV boot replacement today

Oooooh, nobody likes dirty balls.

Much better!  Weird OEM plastic boots.  I thought they were rubber!

Mmmm, tasty.

Tasty goods out back too

Spot on ride height.  The Ohlins aren't for slamming  :happy2:

Since my mechanic couldn't hold our deal we had for the 4th time now, I started assembly of my strut and springs.. Hopefully will be mounted next weekend.

Shiney!  I hope you like them.  It's easy doing suspension on these cars, you don't need a mechanic  :happy2:

Will change to alloy wishbones with new ball bearings and super pro anti lift kit at the same time.. Never done any of this work, so would have been nice with a guy who know the best way hehe.

Would you tighten the bolt to compress the spring more than I've done now or better to wait when it on the car?
