@Skilgannon - fair play for having a go!! Just check for any leaks. No leak. No problem :happy2: Your cam follower looks very poor indeed. I'd say you've saved yourself a Massive headache there :happy2:

@unzippy - sad times bro :sad1: On a positive note £90 for that particular tire is a great price!! Much damage to your alloy?

@r5gtt - can't wait to upgrade my pump now!!

@ROH ECHT - amazing 1/4 mile time for the GTR  Your car was looking very smart at the show

@xs2man - would love to be able to wash my windscreen without drowning my door card and all my window switches :rolleye:

@f00glee - I would dearly love to do my cam chain! Just can't decide whether to go DIY or hand it over to a specialist (I'm thinking specialist at the minute :ashamed:)

For the chain (and all the work I had done), I went ahead and bought the parts myself and had them fitted by a local VAG specialist. I have neither the tools nor space to do it myself.

Buying parts from genuineautoparts.com was a breeze - hadn't heard much about this site but proved to be a good deal cheaper than many other places, for genuine VW, and were a pleasure to deal with. The specialist just charged me 5hrs labour. I reckon I saved quite a bit by souring the parts myself!

Nice website. What are the part numbers for the cam chain and tensioner? I have a diesel sound when my car gets warm.

Hope this formats itself in a way that's readable - tried to pull it out of an excel sheet on my phone! If it screws up I'll edit next time I'm at my PC. Part numbers as follows. This is absolutely everything required for the job, even some fasteners which may not need replacing but I figured they were cheap enough. Total parts cost was something like £180.

Cam Chain   06D 109 229 B
Chain Tensioner   06F 109 217 A
Cam Cover Gasket   06F 103 483 D
Adjuster Bolt   06D 109 281 D
Chain Cover Gasket   06D 103 121 B
Tensioner Bolts (3)   N-101-963-03
Chain Cover Bolts (7)   N-101-243-08
Hose Clip   N-907-399-01
Seal   06E127248

Hope that helps! I think I'll post a topic in the general thread sometime soon to give these numbers out along with other commonly replaced parts :)

[/quote]For any GTR or the ETS one here in Vanc./PDX?  At the finish line...you certainly can tell the diff between a fast car and a quick one. 240+mph is much more noticeable than 160 to 200mph. The latter seem to just be out for a country drive @ 1/2 mile :happy2:

Well, both in a way. That car is sponsored by Dodson Motorsport so it will be using their uprated transmission gears, oil pump gears and FWD gears. Dodson supply the gears to customers and sponsors and I make the gears for them. I work at the gear manufacturing company cutting and grinding the the gears. Probably shouldn't say who I work for on a public forum though, so I won't.

Fitted a parrot hands free kit today!  Chuffed to get it done as it wasn't so straightforward.  Wired the power from the fuse box from a ignition switched source using a repair wire..
So did you add the new fuse or join the existing one?

Added a new fuse. :happy2:

Had this fitted clock fitted

You can exchange the front fascia and needles from your GTI cluster. You might need to cut a plastic tab if you had a midline screen. You case use tape to mark where the needles sit before replacing them.

Thanks @Shoduchi didn't even realise how different the clocks are
I'll leave it as is and wait for my next project although prefer the blue as opposed to white dials

I swear by the G1

If you minimise the use of your wipers it could last 18 months.

I had it on my BMW 530d, and it lasted for roughly the stated 30,000 miles.

I now have it on my Alhambra also, and obviously yesterday put it on the ED30.  Works really well.  This is the first time I've kicked the application off with the G6 though.
