CW MK6 Golf R (Australia)
« on: January 26, 2012, 01:43:30 pm »
Hi guys.

My name is Stephen and I'm from Australia. Been a lurker on this forum for a while now and thought its best that I should introduce myself :)

I currently own a MK6 Golf R. Previous to this, I had a MK5 Jetta TFSI which got written off due to some idiot not thinking straight and turning when he shouldnlt, causing me to t-bone the car on the b pillar. anyway, I digress..

I know this isnt a MK5 so to speak but this forum has such a plethora of information regarding GTI's and TFSI's that hopefully I can contribute in any way shape or form. :)

Heres a summary of what my car has at the moment

Video of Garage door mod

Video of the Nanolex Glass sealant working on my windows. Notice how the water immediately "beads" and just rolls off. Ive never had to use my wipers since applying this.

Video of Defi Advance BF Boost gauge (2.0 bar)

Video of my Golf R and a friends MY11 WRX. Ever since the VWRacing intake has been fitted, the induction noise from the outside is loud, however its quiet in cabin, a lot quieter than when i had my Forge TWINTake on my old Jetta. It seems to have also developed a flutter!!! haha!

yep, I know TEFF. Haha his car is mental! Him and another guy here in Australia down in Melbourne have been doing pretty much the same mods, give or take a few bits here and there. Their cars are just on another level. Mine wont be as hardcore as I plan to just go bolt ons and to a stage 2+ equivalent. Aim is to have 200kw at all 4's as this car is my daily driver.

Performance for me is the least of my worries and will prob be one of the last things I do after I get suspension and wheels out of the way first.

Welcome stephen  :happy2:

Where did you get the CF mirror caps?

Hey Teff. Why am I not surprised to see u here? Haha. But rightly so...your car is on another level and the amount of work + dedication you have had on ur car ever since that accident which almost wrote off ur car is just unbelievable. It really did rise like a phoenix from the ashes so to speak :)

The mirror caps I got them from OSIR.

That's lovely.  :notworthy:

Nice mods and plans.  :happy2:

Thank you :)

Did you use the fabia struts, ecs ones or custom stuts?

Hi there. I used the struts that ECS sold. Im not sure about the longevity of these struts but theyre still working quite well and are still very strong so no gripe from me about them :) Really happy with it, and its such a useful little mod too. Just have to warn people that the boot will flick up automatically to be careful.

That is a VERY nice car, I wants it!!!!

Welcome or should I say G'day!!!

G'day :) You guys in the UK/Europe seem to dominate the VAG scene...the scene here is quite small compared to JDM meets. The euro scene here is still finding its feet so I hope to gather as much info from you guys as I can. :)

it is a tad harder to close than the OEM struts And you do need to apply a little bit of downward force to "latch" the bootlid in place because if u dont do it properly it'll just fling up again. But having said that its not too hard to close.
