Alextrea's Tornado GTI
« on: June 15, 2013, 10:26:35 am »
Alright guys,

Bought this the other week!

06 plate 60k on the clock, absolutely love it.

This project thread mayyyyy be slightly slow as at the moment I'm spending more on fuel than anything else whilst I get the up in power from my old car out of my system.

This is what I had before:

And this is the new wagon :)

Plans for it are more based around drivability than silly lows like my past two cars have been.

Exhaust
Intercooler
Intake
Map
Lowered... Not sure whether I want fixed spring and damper set up on about a 40mm drop or coilovers.
RARB .. Most likely whiteline or H&R.
Possibly some spacers
Either update the brakes I have already, pads, disks and hoses etc or uprate to big break package.
And eventually ill change the wheels to possibly pro race 1.2s
Also need to fit an aux cable!

Any ideas are welcome, and once I've gone over the car today, weather providing, then ill upload some more pictures.

Thanks!
Alex :)

Looking good mate, has the front grill all been colour-coded black? The honey comb section looks gloss black, much better than standard plastic.

If your running those plates anyways mate I wouldn't care about having it on the front because I'm sure they ate illegal anyways,(someone correct me if I'm wrong) so regardless it's a fine. I've run a plate in the windscreen 5 months and I've been ok

Yeah they are metal and pressed plates so they are illegal! If I'm gonna run no plate on the front I'd have to get the holes filled, but I'm liking how the plates look at the moment! Breaks the front up a bit.

Ahhhh that was you twiggy? Cool, yeah progress will be slow as hopefully ill be in the forces in September so it will halt for 32 weeks whilst Im training.. Either that or I just surprise my parents with intercoolers and exhausts arriving at the house haha!

You are wrong. Those are legal. Correct Font and spacing is correct .

If you look it has the BSA stamp mark on the reg plate to proove it

I'm sure you arnt allowed metal plates though. Either way ive never been pulled for them, they are legal as in spacing and font and registration mark, but to whether the material is allowed is another question ... Even better if they are not.. And if they are illegal I have the other plates in the boot lol

Used to have these on my corsa police said no as you need the postcode and name
Of the company who made them at the bottom also the police said its a non reflective material, I had a £60 fine because of them.

It's got the post code and the company name, they are also reflective! Really good plates like, I ran them on my mini for two years and didnt have a problem. Cops have to be in a reaaaally bad mood to pull you for something so petty
