I fell out with the H&R springs after a time :sad1:

In "comfort mode" the suspension behaves strangely with the H&Rs :scared:, the damping and spring rate just arent suited at all. "Normal mode" is better for day to day but can be a bit harsh, and sport mode is harsher still. I tried the reset of the DCC when i fitted the springs but the values were wayyyy out of range so it just wouldnt work.

I can see why VWR only recomend a 25mm drop with DCC dampers.

I feel you will soon be on coilovers  :wink:

I did do some research and it suggested on Scirocconet and other sites that comfort mode is to be avoided if at all possible.
They suggested normal for comfort and sport for, well - sport.

It stays almost exclusively in sport mode anyway - And I've not done a long enough journey since having it tracked to give it any fair chance.  I don't mind a harder ride, ultimately along with the Polybushing it's only going to make things worse.
I want the KW DCC coilovers but at like £2000.... I'm looking into whether Bilstein do a set of dampers for the Rocco to work with DCC.

As above... I'm curious to what weels you'll choose. I can never make my mind up what wheels work on a Rocco.

As above... I'm curious to what weels you'll choose. I can never make my mind up what wheels work on a Rocco.

Personally I really like 3SDM 0.01's on a 'Rooco although I guess they might be considered relatively common.

Thinking VWRacing ones (which I think are Team Dynamic Pro Race 1.3s) or another similar design of wheel, OZ Superleggera or similar.
Also been looking at Aston Martin DB9 Speedlines...

It looks a lot better already....well done. The research I did suggested Eibach springs but I use the "comfort" mode most of the time up and down the motorway. When these shocks wear out I will most likely invest in coilovers though, something like the ones you have mentioned already.
I'm very interested to find out your thoughts on any improvements once it's been to Darkside?!

I'm not that bothered with comfort at all, it's definitely livable for me in sport which is really quite stiff indeed but it's not crashy. I did some long distance mileage over the last week or so and comfort is usable on the motorway, where it's more undulations than crashy bumps.. around town it's not as good, but on motorways it still gives the best comfort in my opinion.

I'm sure the work from Darkside will be fine, have had stuff from them before and I was very happy with that.

Got a GTI gearknob from Dan from here which was fitted last night ... nice difference

Some updates.

Had some personal issues which have really knocked my but progress has been moving along while I get back on track (slowly).

After the issue with my Buckets draining the battery, the original battery never was the same and was struggling to start the car, so put in a Bosch S5 007 (same battery that I had replaced in my Golf only a few months prior!! (Grr).



Also, I got around to buying an adjustable short shift kit which I really do enjoy, and has tightened up the driving experience as a whole, and driving any other car now feels strange.




In other news, in preperation for my brakes, which are going on, on the 15th of November, I popped over to AKS late one evening last week and test fitted my wheel on the same set up (minus the disc, as mine will be J Hooked) to figure out the clearance... the Scirocco wheels are really quite poor for brake clearance, so a 12mm spacer is required. While not that bad, is a bit more than I wanted to run, and just accelerates my requirement for different wheels. (I have the ones I want in mind already). Also means i need another set of spacers.. I have 12mm already but cannot space the front and not the rear... would look odd..



And I decided to give it a quick Glaze with some AIO polish and a couple of coats of FK1000p wax just to keep it easier to clean in the short term until I can get some time to correct the paintwork.




Also to come

- Full pre-darkside service including new fuel filter and Millers Nanodrive 5w40 oil
- Darkside tuning
- Full 3 inch TBE (cat back section to be completed after Darkside as that needs to be done first)
- Rear polybush kit
- Uprated anti roll bars (likely H&R)
- New wheels
- Audio work to commence ASAP

Didn't realise the bottom picture was the same car at first! Is that a Forge quick shifter or another brand? What about bushes for the transmission, do they need replacing at the same time (thinking of doing this mod to my GTI at some stage you see)?

The DPF does a great job of keeping the tail pipes clean doesn't it  :laugh:

Looking forward to the darkside tuning results. I follow them on facebook, but never seen them tune a CR170  :party:
