Not sure what this chap has used on his but on all my cars I give them a spray with tfr and sponge anywhere with dirt build up, hose it off and then spray auto glym instant tyre dressing over it. Shut the bonnet and go for a drive or leave engine to idle so there's some heat circulating and then have a look  you'll be suprised how fresh it looks
-
Samiul11 it has been looked after before me but what I use is baby wipes and back to black :signLOL: and a toothbrush and paint brush then get cracking :happy2:

let us know on the updates whats next ?
-
Yeah it's running 260bhp right now and it was dyno'd @201.04 bhp standard
You can get between 280-300bhp max out of k03 that's why I'm heading for k04 :happy2:

revo intake filter are they the best choice thinking of getting one
did you get camcoat or std
is it too loud what do u think it adds bhp ?
KO4 will go 365 BHP with the wright mods but then fwd
How do u get the power down ?
300 plus need LSD or even better 4WD
i guess thats why people upgrade to mk6 R and mk7 R

I went for camcoat it makes a nice noise when on boost personally
Probably adds between 10-15bhp
I'll be adding a lsd if it doesn't behave it's self :driver:

Nice buidl thread.

Didnt you consider the TTE420
-
Wonder what curves you'd expect now you have took the plunge mate!
-
Love it mate, did the brakes fit behind the 17's no problem or need a space?
-
I got the turbo from TPS for a good price and I have considered a tte420 but I need to be running a cdl engine to run it I've only got an axx engine
And the s3 brakes fits perfectly behind the 17" monzas :happy2:
-
Lovely car mats, love the wheels!!!
-
Cheers mate :happy2:
-
your building a monster!!
your r32 rear brakes?
can i ask where you got them from?
the standard brakes on the mk5 gti arent exactly confidence inspiring!!
-
Well I brought them new from tps as I get full discount there I think all in all £400 for everything  the standard brakes are a bit weak to be honest :signLOL:

What discs are these they look good how do they compare to 370mm
they're 340mm TTS discs and they don't warp like the 370mm TTRS discs do :happy2:

Where did you get the calipers? They're like rocking horse s**t at the minute.

Yeah I keep having a look myself. The guy that used to have loads of refurbished sets for £350 is back on there, but only offering a refurb service rather than the actual calipers. Think they've dried up!

Definetly a fan of the wheels
-
Those wheels!
The car look amazing Josh. Great build thread.
Nice workshop by the way. Loads of room!
-
Loving this build. Lot of research and money has gone into this. How much is the OEM turbo from TPS out of curiosity?
The turbine wheels are the 1

K03 to k04 is like night and day difference where the k03 spikes quickly but soon Tails off quickly where the k04 will kick in and just keeps on going and going it's rather addictive  just goes to show you can run a k04 turbo on a axx engine and still be realiable in saying that though I've done all precautionary servicing made sure everything was spot on before going to that level of tuning.
-

Perfect. That's exactly what I was wondering :happy2:
When I got my K03 "stage 1" mapped that's exactly what I noticed. The car makes a lovely dollop of torquey power between 2K and 5K but then just dies off. Exactly what you'd expect in fairness from such a small turbo
But I was surprised when my wife, who's not that bothered about cars, commented that it drives like a modern turbo diesel   Fair play to her she's pretty much bang on :happy2:
What power and torque are you running now Josh?
And, if you don't mind me asking, what do you feel are the most valuable safety/longevity mods when tuning an AXX K04?
I'm gonna follow your earlier advice and get rid of my revision D DV. Think I'm gonna go with the GFB DV+ and be done with it :happy2:
-
Great car. Love the wheels !
-
Very similar to mine spec wise but i do have a few more bits on and byd engine too but yeah very similar love it
-
Wheels are awsome. Did you buy them new, if so what was the cost if you dont mind me asking? Ta

It's all up and working and running well just need to run it in now for 1200 miles
-
Nice work
Why change the engine though? For more power later?
-
My old axx engine had an uncertain past, it was removed at some point and rebuilt and not properly built and since I had a k04 conversion done it was highlighting lots of different things
So to play it safe it was changed and now I can go tte420 now
-
Nice Josh :happy2:
I think the consensus was drive it quite hard on a new engine, bed the rings in and stop high oil usage long term
TTE ftw :happy2:
-
Is that a brand new CDL engine from Audi? :surprised: Dare I ask, how much?!! Will your AXX ecu run it OK?
I've got a TTE420 as well but I've been pondering whether or not I should stick it on my 108K old BYD engine, which also has an uncertain past.
TTE420s see around 300lbft by 3000rpm and up in the 400s by 4000rpm, and holds a good slug of it to the limiter, so well worth doing.
I don't think even a CDL will hold a TTE420 indefinitely though, but it'll be fun whilst it lasts!
-
Wow!! Awesome upgrade :happy2:
Where did you source the engine?
Best of luck with it :happy2: :happy2:
-
Nice Josh :happy2:

Thanks @fab5freddy (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=3064) I've used millers 10w40 running in oil for 30 miles then dropped another lot of running in oil and ran that for 180 miles then changed it for fully synthetic, now to drive it the Crucial miles for wearing in is the first 50 or so, I could see the swarf in the oil when I changed it,
@Pudding (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=10733) I'll buy your tte420 if you don't want it  I can pm the price of the engine..
I brought it from TPS also the ecu will adapt to the lower compression ratios and it runs very well except the runner flap delete currently hasn't been mapped out yet..
cheers @ducman77 (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=7463) brought the engine from tps I didn't want to buy a second hand unit because you don't know what's happened to them

I've PM'd you mate.
The swarf is probably bearing crumbs? Shouldn't be much piston ring / cylinder dust as the factory do a decent hone job on these. I really wouldn't advise the aggressive bed in method. Drive it normally and avoid maximum load, labouring, and maximum revs. Do lots of over-running too so that the PCV vacuum pulls the rings onto the cylinders for extra bedding in.

I agree.... i think it would make more sense to rebuild the AXX block with forged rods and pistons but a bit too late now though lol
-
Great build this :happy2:
-
Awesome build mate what power you going to get out of the new engine and stage 2
-
I think he's looking to Mr TTE420 for some power answers, so well over 400 Shetlands!
-
Bottom end rebuild I would say to that one imho wouldn't even risk it otherwise :surprised:
-
How's the CDL bedding in going? Bought a TiTTy420 yet?

Hi @Pudding (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=10733) :signLOL: 2,000 miles on the engine now, and it's been mapped at Rtech and niki made this happen
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fj395%2Fcorsa1923%2FIMG_0331_zpsndspmd1x.jpg&hash=d8da430ff1b080d3eba6cf9199e1dcf183b7acc2)
And no I haven't brought a tte420 yet working on it :happy2:
-
Jesus.....what a beast!!
All you'll need is a Haldex conversion and you'll be off
-
I envy this car so much! Total beast.
Class work

Great results! I bet that brand new engine feels super smooth and tight :happy2:
With all that compression, a TTE420 will make 450 easily on your engine!!
-
I finally brought a tte420 turbo and a BCS 3.5" downpipe into decat to extract the most hp I can get  so I'll have a 3" downpipe to sports cat for sale soon and a k04 turbo too :happy2:

Your speedlines, what offset did you go for to get your RS3 calipers with Vagbremtechnic mounts behind? I’ve got the same colour car as you and those wheels in that colour looks the dogs danglies.
-
Thanks @Mike58 (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=16004) I went for et42 clears virtually any caliper you can throw at it even 8 pots :happy2:

Can you share more details about your engine build? Those are impressive numbers! Congrats! :congrats:
-
@Shoduchi (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=10590) thanks :love:
stock CDL engine
Aks 165 bar fprv
Tte420 turbo
Bcs 3.5" non powervalve exhaust system
APR Intercooler
TTRS lpfp etc
-
If my exhaust is noisy with the power valve and wrx pipe 3" then yours must sound metal :signLOL:
-
Wow! Fantastic power from TTE420. Congrats! :congrats:
-
325lbft at 3000rpm, and still holding it to 7000rpm. I guess that answers any questions about how it spools! Impressive :happy2:
And yes, my TTE420 is still gathering dust in the cupboard
-
That graph is so smooth. Lots of area under the curve!
And yes, my TTE420 is still gathering dust in the cupboard
Is it close to finding it's way out? Or is there no immediate plans to liberate it?
-
I'll see if there's time to stick it on this summer, but to do it justice I will need a better intercooler and lift pump, + mapping. Spiraling costs as always with these cars!
I've also been giving thought to a MK7 R. Values of these are dropping by the day. My plan is to restyle and badge it as a GTD to keep thieves away from my house. Definitely no Lapiz blue action, or 4 stupid tailpipes. No one has done it that I'm aware of, and makes complete sense to me these days!
-
Thanks guys it just pulls and pulls now
@r5gtt (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=11199) mine is a prestige system so nice and quiet until boost
@pudding you should chuck it on you won't be disappointed :happy2:
-
@jhook661 (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=11500) it that the one with the valve as I've got?
On top of that I've now got the wrx centre pipe as my resonator snapped and now it burbles every where and goes nutts and pop pop pop popopopop on boost :driver:
