Found a replacement subframe from a jap import mk6 hardly any corrosion and a bonus of having the xenon levelling bracket and sensor. For another job further down the line.
Subframe is stripped ready for powder coating. Can't believe how poor they were protected from the factory.

Passed but with advisories on rear tyres, rusty rear suspension arms and corrosion on o/s sill

Just had two rear tyres fitted my usual Falkens 235/40x18 

They are expensive. I was quoted £160 last week in South east Kent. I would shop around a bit see if you can save yourself a few quid.

Ah, you got off lightly there! I ended up paying nearly double that...

My original steering lock had gone and so had the lock barrel. I needed booth replaced. My mechanic locked out the first one because he fitted it and tested it without the new barrel in it - it warns you in the instructions to be fair... he replaced it anyway. Then there were issues with the immobiliser. He had to get an auto-locksmith out for that!

Now I need to get my new key cut onto a new immobiliser fob and cut my old key onto a new blank in case I ever need to manually lock the car or glove box. It's been a right pain in the a**è 

Had this a year ago - needed a new lock barrel (kept the same key) but paid £249

Does anyone know roughly how much a spare key for a mk5 with remote locking etc on there would be to be cut and programmed. I have the working original and not bothered about OEM. Been quoted 220£ by someone which seems steep. I am in Blackheath south London.

Semi fixed, he's put VIS hpfp internals in to raise the high pressure,  the old piston was worn on the pump - still needs a bit of work on the map we think as it hits what I think is a boost cut and momentarily cuts power.
