Are Kwik-Fit being honest here?
« on: September 26, 2016, 01:37:56 pm »
So I went into Kwik-fit with a puncture and was advised it's an unsafe repair as whilst the nail was not in the sidewall it had went in at an angle which had caused damage to the tread of the tyre. The solution was a new tyre... is this advice accurate?

Depends on how close to he shoulder of the tyre it was, think it's within an inch of the shoulder then it's not repairable

not sure if they are honest on this case but I would go to f1 autocentre, found they have better service.

Do you have a picture of the damage?

I  fit tyre's for a living and it does all depend on the angle it has gone in,as kwik fit won't repair them but they can be repaired

I would get advice from an independent tyre fitter, whether repair is possible.
But as said for 100 % piece of mind replace it.
