The very ones. The cheapest I'd seen from Germany had been £130 delivered and I was intending to take the plunge on them in a few days.

Glad I had another look last night!

Just beware that these are for manual gearbox. For DSG you need to get this reference: E20-85-014-02-22.

If you're talking stealer.... £299 for the service (although you can do a set package with 2 MOTs, a major and minor for £400).

Cam belt fixed price is £399, with pump at cost (about £80)

The dealer originally quoted me £319 for the major service and £449 for cambelt and pump - I said that was too much so they reduced to £299 service and £429 - they wouldn't budge any further

SO went to my independent, service £152, cambelt & water pump £284  = happy days

So much for keeping it standard!

Thanks for the info. Yes I think I need to get some quotes from independent garages for the cam belt and water pump job, but I will likely go to the dealers for a major service- just to ensure all the parts are genuine VW.  They will probably want to change the brake fluid as well as its been a while since that was done so will try and get a discount on that.

Amazing how much the cambelt job cost varies between the VW dealers, at TL Darby VW it is £349 including water pump and tensioner, at my local VW JCB Medway it is £449 for the same!

Must be at a premium down here in the far West. Dealer is £449 for cambelt and water pump. Two indies I use, one was £406 for cambelt and water pump and £65 for thermostat, the other is £426 for cambelt, water pump and thermostat. Not a lot in it really.
