Made the journey to Cornwall from West Yorkshire, averaged 38mpg which was surprising.

Cam follower done today. Used engine oil for lube. No space under that pump, banjo bolt was exhausting. Got there in the end.

Well done as I know the banjo is a beech to do.  :congrats:

Stared at it for a bit and wondered how much money I'm going to spunk at it over the next year or so

I managed to pick up 2 mint condition wings today and plan to fit them tomorrow weather permitting. Ive been trying to source some for a while after VW refused my claim due to the wings being painted previously so I am over the moon with the ones I found and the price I paid.

Fitted this to my car after stripping the old one down for parts lol

OEM base plate and with chrome surround removed ready to install on new chrome plate.

Chrome surround and chrome base plate but electrics not installed

New chrome base plate with electrics ready to be fitted. Electrics from the new chrome base plate on the side as this is different to oem style and the look I wanted.

New base plate without D but will pressing this in and it will then look like a million dollars.

D has been pressed into the surround and all ready for fitting.

Finally the moment of truth and all old parts fitted to chrome base plate within minutes.

Can I ask where you got your drivers grab handle from and how much it was?
Admittedly I'm after a 4 door one but it would be similar price. Dealers in New Zealand want heaps for them and I can only find LHD ones on eBay.

Finally managed to change my cam follower today.

i have no idea if this was changed before but my car has done 94k. Wasn';t too bad in the end, but i didn't have the banjo bolt to deal with - mine was a rubber pipe jobby.
