Sprayed Wynns EGR Cleaner into the intake system for a little clean, It solved a cold start problem i was having for a few days but now is back not not instantly firing up again. So going in for a terraclean and then seafoamed before full service later in the year..

That shows you have either gummed up exhaust valves or injector issues, possibly gummed up aswell. I would Seafoam or remove the exhaust manifold and have the injectors out. I wouldn't bother with terraclean.. I tried it, wasted money.

Cheers mate, yea been reading your thread on the terraclean... mine has clicked onto 105,000 so im thinking it must be pretty nasty in there, but i still get ok fuel consumption and power is still ok, did feel sharper after i EGR sprayed it i have to say but not sure if was placebo effect , How did you spray the Egr cleaner in if you have done it ?? i just followed instructions and removed air filter and put back engine cover and sprayed into the air intake hole till the can was empty ??

I kept the revs to 2000rpm and cracked open the PCV pipe and sprayed in the EGR contents gradually . It does improve it, but gradually starts doing it again. . Inlet off and injectors clean is the way to go IMO.

Mine was cold starting being very lumpy, which also was causing a very high exhaust Emissions result. (190ppm) failure was 200ppm on MOT. Now injector that was replaced, it's now just 23ppm.  Worth getting an emmisions check done which will give you an idea if the spray pattern on each injector is good..worth doing tommy  :happy2:

Ok cheers Steve will look into that !! Will it mean an injector is at fault if it was a high emissions result then ?? i have a std exhaust with the center silencer removed .. just in case that raises the emissions results when i get one done.

If you have VCDS, live misfire counter, and watch to see if a particular cylinder is misfiring on idle.

We fell in love a bit
This car origanaly was for my wife but she's let me have the gti for a while and I'm starting to like it nay love it.
The cars a joy to be in at 30 or 70 dependant on the road.
Throtal pedal still feels slightly delayed but maybe a remap will help the feel?
Love how I can tootle about or get slightly serious and blast in and out of corners.
Still pushing the handling (tyres) but I recon a remap and bilsteins with federal rsr tyres and some descent pads will be next
Then a panel filter and exhaust with map
And tart it slightly with wheels and carbon being a red car it'd be rood not to.
Got to say loving it

I've calmed down since it happened, few expletives etc plus wanting to throw things about but accidents happen,  is photobucket or flickr best to use for uploading pics onto here?
