Detail My Ride - Richwig83's TDI Edition30! ;) + Car Rig Photo's!

[Greeners]

Taken from Detailing World!

Hi Chaps,

We were contacted by a member of Mk5GolfGti.co.uk and asked to carry out an Enhancement detail on his 2008, VW Golf GTI Edition 30 finished in Diamond Black Pearl, to remove light swirl marks, hazing etc letting the finish down somewhat.

The car was treated to an Enhancement detail, which included the following:

- Wheels cleaned using AS Smart Wheels, vikan/lambswool brushes
- Tyres/arches cleaned using AS G101, vikan brushes
- Citrus pre-wash via foam lance, to remove loose debris/dirt, high pressure rinse
- Bodywork, door shuts etc washed using Dodo Juice Born to be Mild, 2BM and lambswool mitts
- Bodywork/wheels decontaminated using Iron X/Tardis, followed by clay with Auto Finesse grey
- Paintwork corrected using Meguiars MF DA System, some areas receiving several hits to correct deeper RDS. Paintwork was then cleansed using Dodo Juice Lime Prime prior by DA prior to waxing.
- Paintwork was waxed using Dodo Juice Purple Haze
- Wheels lightly polished by hand, sealed using Mint Rims
- Tyres, plastics and rubbers dressed with Car Pro Perl, glass cleaned, exhaust/chrome polished
- Light interior detail, include mats/carpets clean, fabrics, plastics etc, glass cleaned

Unfortunately after camera issues limited during pics from an iPhone, however we were lucky enough that the client is in fact a keen photographer, who took some superb after shots that gave the car justice.

On collection, he also bought along his custom built rig, which allows the car to be photographed whilst moving very slowly, with the camera set correctly (e.g high exposure, long shutter speed), and a little bit of Photoshop magic the results are stunning, even more so that our studio allowed us room to do this indoors! I'll let the pictures do the talking!

During, a few not great quality before/after, but you get the idea!

After, finished shots! Rig pics at the end, wait is nearly over ;)

Once completed, we cleared some space and set up the rig, both on the Edition 30, and also an RS4 previously featured which we had in the studio at the time!(still for sale if anyone is interested!)

The rig setup looked a little something like this:

Finished pics!

Thanks for looking, comments/questions etc welcome!

Yes interesting! I wonder why maybe it's a gti that can be run on Diesal too? Lol

[rich83]

Well if it's confusing you it's doing exactly the job it's intended to do. :-)

I guess the idea is that everyone thinks it's a diseasal and then Rich pounces on them!

Hope my car looks as good by the end of next week!

Used to be a good idea when Diesels were poor but most can pounce on any car now days!

Stick a 1.6 badge on

Well it's not! I know very well it's a gti but wondering why there's a TDI on it, not thinking its a TDi btw

Cracking detail, super rig pics.

Had any comments on the TDI badge yet when out and about Rich?!

Very nice. Black is the best colour for reflections
